Armed with a welding torch and a passion for engineering, Windhoek-based artisan Festus Nande Natangwe is driving local innovation by simultaneously building family homes and fabricating custom Safari vehicles from raw steel.

Natangwe, a self-taught master craftsman, has built a stellar reputation across the capital for transforming ordinary metals into heavy-duty structural products.

By seamlessly blending structural construction, custom welding, and specialised vehicle fabrication, his locally rooted business is single-handedly supplying critical support to two of Namibia’s largest economic pillars, housing and tourism.

“My work shows that building a house requires patience, accuracy, and attention to detail,” said Natangwe.

In addition, from the early stages of construction to the finishing, Natangwe uses his practical skills to create safe and comfortable homes, and he can realise any design someone wants for their house in no time.

Another interesting part of Natangwe’s work is building Safari cars. He said that, thanks to his knowledge of welding, metalwork, and vehicle fabrication, he can modify and build vehicles designed for Safari and outdoor adventures.

“This vehicle was strong and reliable because it may travel on rough roads and difficult terrain,” said Natangwe.

Natangwe’s creativity allows him to combine practical engineering with his own ideas to create a unique Safari vehicle. What makes Natangwe special is the way he combines several skills.

He said welding, construction, and vehicle fabrication may seem like different professions, but they all require creativity, technical knowledge, hard work, and problem-solving. To Natangwe, he turns these abilities into real, useful products.

His story illustrates how practical skills can create opportunities. By continually improving his craftsmanship and learning new techniques, he is building a strong reputation for quality work within his community. According to Natangwe, he said he is more than just a welder or builder; he is a craftsman, creator, and innovator. He said he uses his hands and knowledge to build houses, create metal structures, and make Safari cars.

“Through my determination, I now realise that ordinary materials can be transformed into something extraordinary with skills, hard work, and creativity,” said Natangwe.

He is adding value, creating jobs, and supporting two of the country’s biggest pillars, tourism and housing. For welding, game viewer conversions, doors, gates, and house construction, contact Festus Nande Natangwe on 081 358 2915 – Windhoek.
