Caymanian author Joshua J. Dilbert released his latest e-book, “The Bag in the Shed” on 3 Aug. What begins as an unexpected workplace romance spirals into a marriage built on deception in the novel, which is based in Cayman Brac.
Dibert said, “This is my third book which is set in the Cayman Islands, particularly Cayman Brac where I am from. I feel that it provides some idea of how life goes in a smaller community.”
Like his three previous books, Dibert said that the cover was easily created through artificial intelligence. He also turned to AI to gain advise on the book’s pacing and even working titles.
“In a nutshell, this new e-book explores an age-gap relationship between a younger man and an older woman,” revealed Dilbert. “I feel it’s an interesting story about love, trust, poor decisions and the consequences of ignoring red flags.”
Dilbert’s catalogue has now grown to eight published titles, all available exclusively through Amazon Kindle. Following the digital releases of “Brunswick on Toast”, “Rosette Square”, and “When The World Went Silent” in October 2025, the author has decided to fully embrace the e-book market.
“After interactions with some of my readers and well-wishers, most seem to support my decision to go entirely digital,” Dilbert said. “They see the book industry heading in that direction.
“Honestly speaking, I read mostly e-books now myself.”
In recent months, Dilbert has expanded his online presence across social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, creating promotional videos, advertisements and other content that to help him to better connect with his readers.
Dilbert publishes e-books now as its more cost-effective for him to move forward with his writing career.
