A high-level stakeholder engagement comprising regional development committees, business leaders and civic organisations to craft the first comprehensive Omaheke Regional Investment Map and Development Roadmap concluded at Gobabis on Friday.

Omaheke Governor Pijoo Nganate informed Nampa that the five-year investment roadmap for 2026 to 2030 aims to coordinate public projects, donor funds and private-sector investment under a single cohesive strategy.

He said the lack of a unified development framework previously slowed regional progress in the region, adding that “This five-year blueprint will transition the region into a highly targeted driven economy.”

He noted that the newly proposed roadmap will explicitly align the Omaheke Regional Council’s budget with immediate development pillars.

Among the attendees at the weeklong engagement was Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa of the Ohangwena region, who shared key operational insights on the recently implemented Ohangwena Investment Map and Action Plan.

Ohangwena is currently the only region in Namibia operating with a fully realised, standalone regional roadmap.

Hamutumwa, also shared how a specialised economic blueprint acts as a vital tool for pulling in public-private partnerships (PPPs) and mapping local resource allocations.
