The National Water and Sewerage Authority (Nawasa) will begin installing a new 12-inch water main between the Woodlands Junction and the Sugar Mill Roundabout on Tuesday, 29 September 2026. The project is expected to take approximately 3 months.
The new main will replace ageing infrastructure, strengthen the water distribution network and improve the reliability of supply in the area. Completing the installation ahead of planned road resurfacing by Namalco will also reduce the likelihood of excavating the rehabilitated roadway to replace the existing pipeline.
Nawasa has coordinated the works with the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF), the Grenada Transport Commission (GTC), Namalco and other stakeholders, with particular attention to road safety and access for residents and businesses.
Traffic arrangements
The RGPF has advised that 1-way traffic will operate along the affected section of Woodlands Public Road, with vehicles travelling from Grand Anse Valley towards Woodlands/Springs. Motorists travelling from the Springs direction will need to use an alternative route.
A No Entry sign will be placed at the Woodlands Junction, where motorists will not be permitted to enter the affected area.
These arrangements will take effect on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, and are expected to remain in place for approximately three months during the following hours:
The affected roadway may be closed and reopened periodically as the works progress. Motorists are asked to allow additional travel time, observe posted signs and follow directions from police officers and traffic personnel on site.
Nawasa will provide updates as the project advances, including notice of any changes that may affect access or water service. The Authority thanks residents, businesses and motorists for their patience and cooperation.
