EPUKIRO – Following its year of triumphs in the country’s major agricultural shows in 2025, Okanene Brahman Stud bull ‘Pule’ has been retired, shifting focus to reproduction.
The popular bull from Epukiro’s Otjiuamapeta settlement is the current reigning champion of the Epukiro Agricultural Expo, crowned champ of champs at both the Gobabis and Windhoek Agricultural Shows last year.
It also made history to become the first communal area bull to be crowned with the yellow belt as the best ‘selected bull’ at the Windhoek Agricultural Show last year.
Kakunanganda Korupanda, the bull owner, confirmed the news with Agri Select.
He said the decorated bull has done its part after winning all major accolades at agricultural shows last year.
“Pule achieved tremendously. We are happy for its journey in the exhibition events. The focus will now be on the production side. We want more offspring to take over the reign,” he said.
Korupanda said Pule made a mark in the agricultural show fraternity.
Its legacy will remain, as Okanene Brahman Stud is working towards achieving its goals.
“We, at Okanene Brahman Stud, are acknowledging our bull for putting our stud name on the world map. Okanene Brahman Stud has grown. Pule is one of the architects behind that, which is indeed a milestone for all of us,” he added.
Korupanda further said Pule’s nine offspring will be competing at the Epukiro Agricultural Expo this year.
They are ready to give good competition to fellow exhibitors.
“We brought four males and five female cattle to rub shoulders with their counterparts from different areas of the country,” he said.
He also complimented Ace Kavari of Komboro Brahman Stud on the genetics, saying that Pule’s products will be available in the market soon.
“I have much respect for Komboro Brahman Stud genetics, as most of its cattle are doing good in the showcasing events,” he said.
Korupanda expressed excitement on the organisation of the Epukiro Business and Agricultural Expo and the quality of animals being displayed.
“This is a big excitement, as farmers prepared their animals well. That is an exceptional standard required in this industry. This is good for us all. I am proud of my fellow farmers in this industry. Let’s keep the legacy going,” he said.
